Your Community Score is calculated by taking your school size, content posted, and community’s engagement with your website monthly.

A sliding scale of 0.0 (lowest posting, lowest engagement) to 5.0 (highest posting, highest engagement).

The following metrics are used when calculating your score:

  • School size: this helps even the playing field for smaller & larger schools. We know a school with 200 students won’t drive the same traffic as a school with 5,000.
  • Pageviews: the number of different pages are people visiting on your site
  • Unique users: the number of different people are visiting your site
  • Total content posted: the total number of different types of content posted, including articles, photos, galleries, and pages
  • Photos posted: total number of photos uploaded to your site

How can I increase my Community Score?

  1. Make your SportsHub website the true Hub for your department. Utilize your website as the primary means to communicate to your community. Posting forms and important information, news about the upcoming season, and event previews & recaps will get your community in the habit of going to your website for information (and calling your office less!) and increases your website’s pageviews and unique users.

Did you know you can set up social sync from your website, so everything you post automatically goes out to your Facebook and Twitter pages?
  2. Add photos. Photos are the #1 traffic driver to websites. No surprise, right? Ask your community to send in their photos from last night’s event and post a gallery to showcase your athletes and boost your department’s online presence.

Did you know you can add users with ‘photographer’ roles to your website so they can handle the posting for you?
  3. Go Digital. Taking athletic-department essentials digital — like registration, ticketing, and donations — saves you time and hassle while streamlining things for your community. Using products like Activities Registration, GoFan, and NFHS Network can supercharge your department and rally your community around your athletics and activities.

TAMPA, FL, March 2022VNN, makers of the fastest-growing communication platform for high school athletics, has announced that it is joining rSchoolToday, the largest cloud-hosted management software maker for high school activities in the US. Together, the companies will combine operations to create an organization that provides software to athletic and activities departments in 40% of US high schools.

From scheduling activities, facilities, registration and referees, to providing front-end websites, mobile apps, and social media management, rSchoolToday and VNN have powered the digital revolution in high school athletic departments. Together, in a market filled with resource and time-starved administrators, the companies plan to go to market with a comprehensive software suite that provides effortless activities management, helping the nation’s high schools create stronger programs, increase participation, inspire civic pride, generate revenue, and ultimately, do it all with less.

Moving forward, VNN’s software products, including its flagship VNN SportsHub website and Pressbox score reporter, will be marketed under the rSchoolToday brand name, while its advertising business will be rebranded as the VNN Advertising Network.

For years, our customers have been telling us, if we are to be successful in solving their problems, everything needs to work together in one place, with one set of credentials, and zero redundancy,” said Rick Ehrman, CEO of VNN, who will take over as CEO of the combined company. “We’re proud of the work our team has done to deliver on that mandate, including the $2.3M reinvested to schools through our advertising revenue-sharing program. Now, along with rSchoolToday’s industry-leading back office suite, we’ll be connecting the pieces together to provide an all-in-one solution that makes coordinating sports and activities effortless.”

“We’re having so much fun as one big family with the VNN team.  The ability to combine the best of both worlds provides such value for our schools, and that’s what we’re all about,” according to Ray Dretske, President of rSchoolToday.

VNN & rSchoolToday’s Apparel Partnership Hits the Ground Running https://www.vnnsports.net/blog/vnn-rschooltodays-apparel-partnership-hits-the-ground-running/ Mon, 17 Jan 2022 20:15:53 +0000 https://www.vnnsports.net/?p=96082 VNN & rSchoolToday announced a partnership with a leading disruptor in custom apparel software and fulfillment services, SquadLocker, late last year. In the short months since the partnership’s creation, schools around the Network have been thrilled with what SquadLocker brings to the table.

We sat down with Tip Fairchild, Director of Sales at SquadLocker, to get an in-depth demo of the platform and see the benefits for ourselves. Watch the full conversation here.

There are plenty of reasons why a school or team may want to utilize SquadLocker’s platform, including enabling fundraising on your storefront for effortless payouts whenever you want. Tip told us the top three reasons why an AD, coach, or youth leader would benefit using their platform.

1. Department Store Setup. “Competitors that are out there come in and handle one thing.” Tip told us. “What does the football program need? What does the basketball program need? But then there are so many more clubs and organizations that have to [handle apparel] on their own, or they’ve never been able to do it. So how do I include an AD, or anyone who is involved with a club or activity, to get things that are theirs. Not just the school logo, but their school logo with their club, name, or number on it. That stuff is important, that stuff is number one for us.”

2. Complete Brand Control. In his years of experience working with youth leaders, Tip explained, “They do not want to have the brand incorrect.” At some point in handling apparel, every AD, coach, or team admin has dealt with incorrect logos or variations to your brand. “We don’t just guess at the logo,” Tip continued. “We take your logos, these are the logos you are selecting. It’s not generic.”

3. No Inventory Management. “So many people get stuck or trapped with boxes or stuff they can’t sell.” That scenario may sound all too familiar. “Every school has that storage unit or basement that just has tons of apparel sitting around; that risk goes away with us. [Instead], that inventory is sitting in our warehouse and going out one unit at a time.”

From now through February 15, 2022, SquadLocker is offering ADs, coaches, and other youth leaders in the VNN & rSchoolToday Networks 15% off their first order when they set up a storefront with code “SLWELCOME15”. Get started setting up your team’s or school’s storefront here.

John Carroll Catholic High School Partners with VNN to Connect Its Sports Programs to the Community https://www.vnnsports.net/blog/john-carroll-catholic-high-school-partners-with-vnn-to-connect-its-sports-program-to-the-community/ Tue, 07 Sep 2021 13:41:40 +0000 https://www.vnnsports.net/?p=95640 Defining success “The CAV WAY” both on and off the field

Bella Plaia / Clemson University

Birmingham, Ala., August 24, 2021 – With an athletic program that continues to grow and diversify, John Carroll Catholic High School (JCCHS) is proud to announce a partnership with VNN that will digitally connect internal and external audiences to relevant and timely sports information.

John Carroll Catholic Cavs sign up with VNN to manage their online home for high school sports

“We are proud to announce our partnership with VNN – America’s largest and fastest growing high school sports communication platform,” said Dr. Anthony Montalto, JCCHS principal. “John Carroll has taken a bold approach to its marketing and communications efforts, and we are committed to bringing the type of first-class technology that VNN offers to our students, alumni, parents, fans and supporters. We see our partnership with VNN as a valuable way to connect our constituents to our athletic successes, and to deliver the message of what John Carroll has to offer, throughout the greater Birmingham area.”

That message is one of success, and is defined differently among various groups of people. For the student athletes at JCCHS, it is defined “The CAV WAY.”

New leadership brings a new course

In 2020, the leadership over the JCCHS football team changed, and a new course was set with a guiding mission driven by commitment, attitude, preparation and hard work.

The new coaching staff brought a dedication to providing an inspirational, motivational and spiritual environment for student athletes who are committed to personal excellence and team success both on and off the field.

“Everything we do is done the “The CAV WAY,” says Will Mara, head football coach. “This guiding mission enables our student athletes to be successful on the field, in the classroom, in the community and in their future life endeavors. It is who we are.”

A graduate of JCCHS, who played both baseball and football, Mara was introduced as the new head football coach in May 2020. He has been a part of the program’s coaching staff since graduating in 2011 and does not take the opportunity to lead at his alma mater lightly.

John Carroll Catholic Cavs - Head Football Coach Will Mara talks about the Cav way and picking VNN

The student athletes at JCCHS know that when they subscribe to “The CAV WAY,” they are expected to do their job at the highest level. They are to take ownership and accountability for their individual roles and deliver results both on and off the field.

Our players know that WE (the team) are only as good as YOU (the individual),” says Mara. “Accountability is not just a team mentality for us, it’s representative of a brotherhood. This group of young men stands together on and off the field to represent their families, school and alumni base. They are fully committed to the idea that WE ARE YOU.

Mara and the other members of the football coaching staff teach their players that a positive attitude does not guarantee success, but that a negative attitude will guarantee failure. They want the young men under their care to understand that they control their attitudes, and that they are contagious either way. This way of thinking results in no self-doubt or team doubt, because each player knows his supreme confidence and courage is rooted in his faith.

Mara has assembled a support staff comprised of athletes from all levels of football play – high school, college and the NFL. To name a few: Kevin Drake – Gardendale (Ala.) High School, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Arizona Cardinals – coaches receivers; Mike Plaia – JCCHS, Army – coaches linebackers; Vince Elliott – Pinson Valley (Ala.) High School, UAB – coaches defensive ends and running backs; Stan White – Berry/Hoover (Ala.), Auburn University and New York Giants – serves as offensive analyst for the Cavaliers. Mara has also added a full-time strength, agility and nutrition coach in Jeremy Williams.

The level in which the leadership at JCCHS is invested – in order to provide the best environment for their student athletes to succeed – is inspiring,” says Rick Ehrman, CEO of VNN. “It’s the epitome of what it looks like for a school, parents, alumni and members of the community at-large to unite in order to achieve a common goal. In this case, that goal reflects something our team believes in – community can be the end-result of a sport. Being a partner to every piece that makes that special is what makes us different.

VNN And Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Announce Partnership https://www.vnnsports.net/blog/vnn-and-washington-interscholastic-activities-association-announce-partnership/ Tue, 31 Aug 2021 13:22:54 +0000 https://www.vnnsports.net/?p=95630 Partnership designates VNN as preferred vendor of the organization and provider of Varsity RPI rankings, tournament brackets, rosters, and team photos.

Washington's WIAA has selected VNN to provide Varsity RPI rankings, tournament brackets, rosters, and team photos for the 2021-22 school year

MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 31, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — VNN, makers of America’s largest and fastest-growing high school sports communication platform, has announced a partnership with the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association, the governing body for Washington high school athletics.

The deal, which designates VNN as a preferred vendor of the Association for the 2021-22 school year, includes technology services that will help the WIAA deliver on its strategic plan to increase awareness of the benefits developed through participation in educationally-based activities and administer its State playoff events. Services include RPI rankings, tournament brackets, rosters, team photos and game highlights for varsity-level competition. The agreement is the first collaboration between the two organizations.

Since the launch of the first league website by the WPA Network in the fall of 2007, and its acquisition by VNN in July of 2020, the company’s technology products have made promoting sports programs easy for athletic directors across Washington. Trusted by 330 of the state’s high schools, VNN’s communication and enterprise suite includes a custom-branded website, fundraising tools, media score reporter, registration manager, scheduler, online box office, compliant text messaging and more. Taken together, the software has become ‘new necessities’ for schools to streamline administration tasks, create paperless workflow, increase attendance, and promote the advantages of sport. The partnership with the WIAA leverages these technologies to promote the Association’s events on WIAA-owned properties, while at the same time supporting its members by providing information automatically to those who use the VNN platform.

“For as long as I can remember, Washington Athletic Directors have requested a one-stop data entry solution for Schedules, Rosters, and Postseason Brackets.  I’m thrilled that through our partnership with the WIAA, we are finally able to deliver that solution.  There is still much work to be done, but this is the start of some exciting things to come for Washington Athletic Directors,” said Mark Martin, VP at VNN.

“We are happy to partner with VNN which has already built relationships with a large number of our member schools,” said WIAA Executive Director Mick Hoffman. “This partnership will help us on our path to building a single-entry solution for athletic directors.”

Rapid Replay expands from sports highlights to live streaming and game film https://www.vnnsports.net/blog/rapid-replay-expands-from-sports-highlights-to-live-streaming-and-game-film/ Tue, 29 Jun 2021 18:51:03 +0000 https://vnnsports.net/?p=95468

For nearly five years, Rapid Replay operated exclusively as a sports highlights company. And a successful one at that - Rapid Replay Highlights were an instant hit across the VNN network, racking up nearly 20 million views since launching in October.

But since the company’s inception, the times have changed. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, more teams than ever have turned to live streaming to meet their video needs and ensure parents, athletes, fans, and the local community can keep up with the action.

“The more we looked into it, the more we realized there’s a huge value in live streaming - and we saw a lack of flexibility in the streaming space,” said Nick Busto, partner at Rapid Replay.

From highlights to live streaming

Nick Busto and Ben Swinford, Rapid Replay's co-founders, set out on a mission to create a flexible, high-quality live streaming solution for high schools. As a VNN partner, they also wanted their product to integrate with VNN SportsHub sites. And they wanted to move fast, so they could service as many schools as possible.

“From the first conversation with VNN to the launch of Rapid Replay Stream, it was only 40 days,” Busto said.

The result from that sprint became Rapid Replay Stream, a comprehensive solution for schools seeking flexibility while they stream. Customers can go live from any device, including GoPros, iPads, Hudl Focus cameras and cell phones utilizing the Rapid Replay app that they already use to capture highlights. The app includes a custom built-in camera with scoreboard overlay using Scorebird, a companion device that broadcasts information from a school's gym scoreboard. The camera accommodates any spotty service you may experience and hits your VNN site in less than 10 seconds.

School also have the ability to monetize their streams or keep them free. With three different packages, there's options that fit every school's needs and budgets. And Rapid Replay is seeing proof of that already. In the few weeks since its launch, dozens of VNN schools have hopped on board with Rapid Replay Stream.

From live streaming to beyond

Now that Rapid Replay has ventured beyond gameday highlights, they have no plans to stop. The company is rolling out their next product, Clutch, on July 1. Clutch is a lightweight game film solution that provides free, unlimited video storage for coaches. It allows the entire team community to rewatch games, tag plays, clip highlights, and create highlight tapes.

“Coaches can dictate who can view the video to create end of the year mixtape, recruiting tape, and more,” Busto said. “We wanted to put those promotional tools in their hands.”
