The last National Signing Day of the cycle is in the books, with the final members of High School’s Class of 2019 signing on to play sports at the next level. With athletes across sports including wrestling, lacrosse, and soccer making their commitments, much of the nation’s rapt attention was on football.
Last year’s VNN recruiting class included standouts such as Trevor Lawrence (Cartersville High School, GA), the now starting quarterback for Clemson who beat Alabama on his way to a National Title, and Justin Fields (Harrison High School, GA), the incoming quarterback for Ohio State. This year, several high-profile signings continued the trend, with 15% of the Top 100 hailing from schools in the VNN Network. The big winners of the top athletes from VNN Class of 2019 were Texas A&M and Georgia, who signed three each. In fact, top VNN athletes overwhelmingly preferred the SEC, who signed 10 out of 15 in our list, (Texas A&M, Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, Florida), followed by Big Ten (2 athletes – Purdue and Ohio State), Pac 12 (2 athletes – Stanford and Arizona State), and Big 12 (1 athlete – Texas).
