Creating Pages

Pages are different than posts because pages will be permanent information that stays on the site and is housed under your menus. You can create three kinds of pages: content, links to files or linsk to external sites.

Creating a New Content Page

1. Hover over the “+ new” button at the top of the site
2. Click “page”
3. Enter a title i.e Athletic Dept Information, Booster Club Contact Information, etc  
4. In the main content area you can type in the information for that page.
5. Click “publish”

Your page has now been created but you have to go and place it in the proper menu. Check out the section below to learn how to do that. 

Placing your Page in a Menu

1. On the left hand side of your screen hover over “appearance”
2. Click “menus”
3. Choose the menu you would like to place your page in from the drop down labeled “select a menu to edit”
4. Click “select”
5. Towards the top left there is a section called pages. Click on “most recent”.
6. You should see the page you just created, click the checkbox next to it and select “add to menu”
7. Click save menu
8. In a new window open up your athletic website (if you don’t know your URL you can find it here: http://vnnsports.net/vnn-partner-schools/). Under the “more tab” you will see your new menu and page that you have added to that menu. 

Adding a Link to an External Website

Perhaps your booster club has their own website and you want to add it under the “booster menu” or you would like to link out to your state association. This will walk you through how to add a link to an external site.

1. On the left hand side of your screen hover over “appearance”
2. Click “menus”
3. Choose the menu you would like to place your external link in from the drop down labeled “select a menu to edit”
4. Click “select”
5. Scroll down towards the custom link section on the left hand side
6. In the URL box type in the URL for the site you want the link to go to i.e http://www.ihsaa.org/
7. In the Link Text box type in name for the URL, in this example it would be IHSAA
8. Click “add to menu”
9. Click save menu

Adding a File to a Custom Menu

Perhaps you are creating a forms menu that all parents can navigate to to download any forms they may need for registering their student. This tutorial will walk you through uploading a form to the menu

1. On the left hand side of your screen hover over “menus”
2. Click “add new”
3. Click “select files”
4. Find the file you want to upload from your computer and click “open”
5. Once the file has uploaded click the “edit” button next to the name of the file
6. On the right hand side is a file URL, you will want to copy that URL (highlight the URL and click Ctrl + c on your keyboard or right click on your mouse and choose copy)
7. Now on the left hand side of the screen hover over “appearance” and click “menus”
8. Choose the menu you would like to place the file in from the “select a menu to edit” dropdown
9. Click select
10. Scroll down to the custom links box and in the URL box paste the URL to the form you just copied (ctrl + v on your keyboard or right click on your mouse and click paste).
11. In the “link text” box type the name of the form i.e Physical Form
12. Click “add to menu”
13. Click “save menu”
